Day 2/7 of love quotes to live and work by"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction." — Antoine de Saint-ExuperyIsn’t this the best? Especially when felt during a project collaboration. The Little Prince ftw with the endless life / work lesson gems.

Day 4/7 of love quotes to live and work by“I don’t love studying. I hate studying. I love learning. Learning is beautiful.” - Natalie Portman, Angel City Football Club co-founderAs a mom of two girls, and with today’s agenda filled with swimming, softball, basketball, nothing makes me happier than what Natalie and her other co-founders have done in creating ACFC. Natalie’s passionate belief in women’s soccer deserving better pushed her to learn how to build a team differently from the ground up. To believe that mission and capital can coexist. To pay female athletes what they’re worth. To support community. To prove women’s sports is the cultural shift we’ve been waiting for. It’s a complete game-changer. I’ve been a “day one” fan along with my girls. And they will grow up seeing female athletes being visible, celebrated and (soon) paid equitably as the ‘norm.’I can’t wait for the new season to kick off on March 16th. ⚽️https://lnkd.in/g5q-QVVB

Day 3/7 of love quotes to live and work by“I believe in a thing called loveJust listen to the rhythm of my heart”- Justin Hawkins, The DarknessIn a sea of somewhat sameness, The Darkness jumped into the US music charts 20 years ago with this bop. At least to me, it was an instant earworm: unapologetic, unashamed…kind of unhinged in the best way (especially the music vid. Thus me keeping this post to just text 🤓)Apparently this song came together pretty quickly. And Justin knew it would be a hit when he finished writing it. Sometimes when you put in the consistent work on a project, you get to a point where you can feel when you’ve got it right. Just listen to the rhythm of your heart. 😎(And sometimes you just need a raucous song like this to get you hyped and moving. 💃🕺)Fun fact: Justin and his brother funded the early days of The Darkness by writing and performing radio and TV advertising jingles for brands like IKEA, HSBC and Mars bars. Now I’m off to go and try and find those. Happy Friday. 🤘🏻And you’re welcome for now having this in your head.

Day 1/7 of love quotes to live and work by"Love says: 'I am everything'. Wisdom says: 'I am nothing'. Between the two my life flows"A line from Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj's book "I Am That," a collection of talks frequently referenced by many contemporary spiritual authors, including Wayne Dyer. Which is how I came across it. I was actually introduced to Wayne Dyer's work a while ago via my good friend and former work collaborator, Karen Cage, MBA. Karen showed me what it looked and felt like to be a part of a collaborative and inclusive team when we worked together on HP entertainment business. So back then, when I asked who she was inspired by so I could expand my own ways of thinking, she recommended I check out Wayne's work. It was an easy yes. And when I later discovered Spanx founder Sara Blakely also credits listening to Wayne Dyer as part of how she formed her own sense of self, life, work philosophy? I knew these smart women were onto something. Here's to learning from them and their inspirations.Happy Love Day.

Why do we share stories? I can list the research on how sharing stories is a fundamental part of being human, how it helps us make sense of the world, how it forges connections…But there’s also the gift of someone who creates the space and guidance that helps people share their stories with brave authenticity and purpose.Thank you LaQuita Cleare for elevating impactful story-sharing tonight. You are doing your life’s work ✨

My favorite part of the image Brené shared is that “perfect” has three lines through it.Brené shared her thoughts for the first time in a while today (on my birthday no less! 🥳) and it’s a beautiful read. Brené’s voice has always felt so familiar to me. She reminds me of the Texas women my mom found when we first moved from Ireland to Texas. Women with strong roots (in my case, brought together via the Irish-American Society) and a poignant point of view. With an occasional curse word thrown for good measure. 😎Women who felt like second moms as they shared needed life advice and different ways to see things as we adjusted to new cultural norms. Brené is a current day second mom. A voice who says the quiet stuff out loud and shines the light on the path just ahead for us to follow. In her post, Brené shares and normalizes the messy middle experience…what she calls “Act II.” Here’s to remembering we are all struggling and triumphing, imperfect yet trying, and that life is simultaneously so fragile and so beautiful. (Especially on birthdays.) ✨

I think a lot about how hyper-personalized my social algorithm feeds are. As much as I love seeing hilarious blooper reels (Kristen Wiig is my spirit animal), dog rescue-to-rehabilitation tearjerkers (Niall Harbison can do no wrong), and for some reason, cow hoof cleaning (I can’t quit you, The Hoof GP), I recognize that the scroll has been methodically engineered to keep me doing just that: scroll. So I’ve implemented 4 things (so far) to help:1. Create more than I consume2. Think about what I’m seeking or posting before opening an app. If I wanna just scroll, I put a timer on it.3. Scheduled app blocker (I use Opal. It’s a game changer)4. Intentionally go to 1x different, in-person experience a weekSometimes I'm successful in following these things. #WIPAnyway, here’s a couple of senior dogs in sweaters I met a couple of weeks ago. (One thing this algorithm tends to like is personal pics. We'll see.) I wanted to take them home. What’s something random that’s in your personalized feed? Or something specific, weird, cool, unexpected you’ve seen? I want to get excited about what you’re excited about!#fridayfeels #howtohuman

One of the best pieces of advice I was ever given was by a colleague, and not one I expected. It was a while back. We were both experiencing a similarly stressful time in our personal life, but needed to perform at a high level in our professional life. One particular day, he happened to walk by my office when I had my head in my hands. Oof. I think I was taking a minute to work out how to metaphorically put one foot in front of the other. He popped in, gently sat down, and said, “do you know about box breathing?”At first I thought he meant shoving my head in a box and breathing. I would have taken that suggestion. It wasn’t that. He told me all it is is breathing in, holding, breathing out, holding. Each step can be 4 seconds, 5 seconds…whatever felt right. But the point was to slow down, breathe intentionally, and help regulate and reset the nervous system. What a gift. It helped.Since then, I’ve sought out and expanded my relationship with my breath. And I’ve probably annoyed my girls with how much we seek out our breath before, during or after any heightened life moment. It’s been a game changer. So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, sadness, any of those big ones…try an “always with you” reset option, try box breathing ✨🫁#breathwork #boxbreathing #mindfulness

Equality means access.Access means inclusion.Inclusion means perspective.Perspective means connection.Connection means thriving together.———————————————This was my heart-filling takeaway this week, thanks to The Equality Lounge at CES by The Female Quotient. The lounge was my connection spot, recharge station and source of good convos, hugs and inspiration. It was easy and welcoming to be there. Bravo to Talia Bender Small and the entire FQ team - the hard work, constant attention to detail and programming was evident and incredibly valuable.———————————————Access. Everyone was welcome to the lounge. The Female Quotient made CES badges available to anyone leading up to the CES week and gave a guided walk-the-floor tour. AND all the FQ lounge panels are available on-demand. 👟Inclusion. People who identified in any way they most thrive were part of panels and the lounge. It was awesome. Kristin Ogdon spoke about what it means when companies support and allow for people to be their full selves at work. 👏🏻Perspective. In listening to both the featured panelists and just striking up a conversations in the lounge, I gained so much perspective. Highly recommend checking out Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment panel with Laura Correnti and how they will change the media and marketing paradigm for women’s sports 🦈Connection. I met some badass women and men, and reconnected with some of my favorite peeps I hadn’t seen in a while. The best. Loved talking to Christine Göös and can’t wait to listen to her House of Content podcast. 🎙️ I also had a soul-filling conversation with Ameetess Dira - an inspirational entrepreneur and loved hearing about her pet care startup, Petzey. 🐶 Thriving together. This. This is the good stuff. This is the power of conferences. So many good convos, high-fives and support for females doing great work. Loved seeing you there Leah Meranus, Rikin M., julie berger 🙌🏻———————————————To anyone seeking the above, The Equality Lounge has presence at quite a few global conferences coming up (like Davos next week!). Bravo FQ.#thefemalequotient #ces2024 #womensleadership
